Our family, recently took our first, real (aka really long) road trip. We went to Kansas City, MO to visit family and attend the Liberty, MO temple open house.
I was so excited about the trip, but also feeling a bit overwhelmed and anxious. My OCD in organization and list making was on high alert the weeks before. I had three coolers, varying in sizes, each had different items and were strategically placed in the vehicle depending on their contents. I had her toys in several different containers, the DVD player set up with (several) DVDs in close reach. We divided the 13 hours in the car into 3~ hour increments, so we would stop in a few major cities to get out, play, potty, eat etc. This meant I had to figure out where in each city we should stop...find playgrounds, parks etc. Oh, and the whole time I'm trying to plan this I'm also cleaning, organizing, painting, caulking, mowing and staging my house to put it on the market (which went live on MLS the day we left for MO). Bring it on! (I had help though, Brent and my mom were always there to help with anything that was needed...and Brent drove the entire way to and from, with the exception of the last leg from San Marcos to San Antonio.)
We left at 5am Friday morning to try and get a good 3 hours in before Bryn woke up (since her normal wake up time is about 8-8:30am). Worked like a charm. She woke up around 8:15, we stopped to stretch out and grab some breakfast in Waco.
We met up with some cousins in Edmond, OK. It was a good thing we decided to keep going past our planned stop in Norman, OK because we missed a tornado by about 10 min or so on I35. Phew!
Downtown Kansas City has some really fun, kid friendly attractions. One of the places we visited was Kaleidoscope. 100% Free! There were all sorts of fun things for the kids to play with, make etc.
This was not the end of our journey, but the end of this entry for now. I'll post some Nauvoo pictures and stories to come...way too much for one blog entry

Time to go! |

Hopefully, my sister-in-laws have some pictures from the open house, because I have close to none...
Miss Addie...such a sweetheart. She was my little companion/helper for the majority of the trip. |

Here's the majority of our group...minus a few, and with a few extras as well. |
This was her favorite room. She was free to run and push all the buttons (which all made a different sound). |
Very independent. |
Cousins. |
There always has to be some sort of competition among brothers. I was not featured in this blog because I am way too awesome at ping pong/table tennis. |
