Moving Day(s)!

Taking a break from cleaning, packing, spackling, etc...it's hard for me to justify sitting and doing nothing, so a blog entry is some level of productivity, right?  For those of you not in the loop, we're moving!  Not across the country, just across town, but it's still a huge undertaking.  We had our first moving day last Saturday.  Did we hire movers?  Of course not! If you know anything about Brent and I it's that we are definite Do-It-Yourself people...to a fault sometimes, perhaps.  We did have a great "moving team" to help us out though-the old "Topaz Lake Crew" plus a few more. We were up packing, moving all day--actually, Brent and I started moving boxes Friday night and it still took all day Saturday to get the truck completely loaded and then unloaded into storage.  Looking around now, I think, "what did we move? the house still seems full of stuff!"    Someone had a good time during all the moving...

S'mores

Brent wanted s'mores for FHE this week.  Who can argue with that?! We all love s'mores.  We would have made them outside with a fire, but the weather was not permitting.  We compromised and made them in the microwave (not my first choice-ever-but a reasonable solution).   It was Brynlynn's first time to ever have a s'more.  I think she liked it.

(Almost) Summer Time!

I know it's not technically  summer yet, but with all the south Texas heat and humidity you could've fooled me!  It's barely May and we've already been in the 90s.  Thus, it is perfectly acceptable, nay expected, to have lots of outside water fun times...and to have s'mores. It's not always so nice and calm... She gets pretty wild with the water sometimes. (See above.) "IS THAT A ROCK!?!" "Oh, hey there mom..." "What's what? What's this in my hand" "Oh, it's just this muddy rock I found. No biggie." "Did I what!? Did I put it in my mouth?" "Yep!"

Road Trip Continued: Nauvoo

I'm finally getting around to updating the blog...it's only been about a month since our trip, not bad.  Things are pretty crazy/hectic around here since we sold our house, well technically we are only in escrow, but hopefully it's sold.  We received an update, the day we left for Nauvoo that we had an offer on our house (that's 3 days from the date we went "live").  So we did some negotiating etc., while exploring the historic Nauvoo.   Day One: First Stop-Blacksmith & Ferrier and Wainwright (wagon maker). Learning about how covered wagons were made and loaded.  I would enlighten you all on some interesting facts, but I can't remember any at this point.  Maybe someone can comment a bit of info. they learned and remember :).  Sidenote: In case your wondering about the name tag, the demonstrators were all servings missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
