Why celebrate Father's Day with only one day? We devoted the entire weekend to it and had some great family time. We spent Friday and Saturday nights in Floresville with the whole family: Grandma Resa, Grandad, Brent, me, Brynlynn, Seth, Tanlee, Dot, Ella, Winston and Sophie (the last 4 are the dogs). We had a great time, as usual.

So, here's why Brynlynn is no longer wearing a swimsuit in the picture above...because I know no one thought I would just toss my baby in a pool with only a diaper. At least, anyone that knows me wouldn't think that. Here she is with her daddy in her new, super cute bathing suit. Mom, had this diaper thing which I initially thought was supposed to go over a regular diaper. However, I was instructed to only put the certain cloth diaper cover on her b/c it was sufficient as a diaper alone. Welp, turns out it was not. Brent took it like a champ. He simply continued holding her until we took the pic then changed her...as opposed to holding her out an arms' length away. Dad of the year!
I think now, more than ever, we need 'hands-on dads.' The role of a father is a great and important one. They are set to be at the head of the family unit; to lead and guide the family. I am so grateful and blessed to have a wonderful father in my life. He has an amazing work ethic...he never seems to stop, except for the occasional nap. I always felt loved and appreciated growing up as a child and I know he had something to do with it. We don't always see eye-to-eye and I know I give him a hard time more than I should, but I'm so grateful for him and the influence he has been in my life.
I know that great fathers take time and like many things are cyclical...it takes great fathers to create the next generation of great fathers. Thus, I know that I have my father-in-law to thank, because Brent is an awesome dad. Clyde (my father-in-law) continues to be a righteous example to each of his kids and grandkids; lovingly guiding them and bringing them closer to the Savior. I know his influence in Brent's life has helped Brent become the man and father he is today. I am so grateful for this.
Happy Father's Day to all the men that continue to be a dad in the lives of their children.
