Changes.

Brent's after-work time is devoted primarily to Chemistry, thus I had to come up with some projects to keep my sanity. Occasionally, I'd go on "cleaning sprees!" Scrubbing, dusting, wiping, washing, folding--you name it. I cleaned it, twice. That got old fast though.

Last Friday night, about 9:15, I don't know if it was the marathon HGTV watching or the mind numbing boredom but, I decided I wanted to paint. I went to Brent (who was, of course, studying), spilled my plans and relayed the urgency of the situation because Home Depot closes at 10!! Off we went for a little late night shopping adventure! Approximately 2.5 hours later....VVVWWAAALAA!
Accent wall complete!

I went for something drastic...or so I thought. Everyone that has come over since then had to be coached as to the new changes. Seriously!?!

Last night, I decided it was time to get to work on the downstairs bathroom. I finished the cabinets, but Brent's still getting the hardware installed. So, for now, TBA....

Another little 'change'....sigh....

8 years of driving vehicles that I would not have minded if they were smashed up and not a single accident (well, excluding a tree). Less than a year in with my BRAND NEW car. Bang! Literally. At approximately 6:40pm on Monday, Aug. 3rd, my little white honda was struck by a big, mean GMC SUV. Fortunately, the man was very nice (as he should be) and his insurance was also prompt in getting things taken care of (fingers crossed....I'm still nervous I'm going to get an invoice). Yesterday, we picked up our rental. A sweet little ride known as the Chevy Cobalt. This baby is in primo-mint condition. Sporting cloth interior, gas petal and break petal, radio with functioning buttons, ability to show clock for apprx 15 secs and state-of-the-art window device. Unlike the cars of the new millennium, the Cobalt is going beyond power locks and windows to manual crank devices and locks you push down/pull up. Brent was thrilled. He traded it in today for a Mazda 6. I miss my car.

Mothers and Daughters

Just a warning, I am standing on my 'soapbox', so turn back now if you don't want to hear my rant of the day. I have strong opinions, so read at your own risk. :) I just watched this video, Mothers and Daughters , and had to share it. I watched a very disturbing episode of Oprah yesterday (the DVR recorded another episode for some reason). I won't go in to details, but despite all of the discussion I was very upset and surprised by the actions of the mother. She was basically the opposite of what a mother should reflect. She offered no love, support, encouragement and in this particular situation protection for any of her children. I particularly like how Elder Ballard mentions what expectations we as women are presented with today. Pointing out how, women are often made to look silly, and objectified. Our roles, that we are divinely given, are continually undermined . Women seek guidance on how we should look, what we should wear etc. from people that really do...

What's Fabric?

David's Bridal Highly Educated & Well Informed Employee: Thank you for calling DB. How can I help you? Me: Hi, yes I'm trying to order several yards of fabric. DBHE&WIE: I'm sorry, what? I don't understand you? Me: I'm trying to order some fabric. DBHE&WIF: order what? Me: Fabric. F-A-B-R-I-C (yes, I spelled it out for her just mistakenly thinking this would in some way make the communicating proces easier). DBHE&WIE: I don't know what that is. Me: (stunned, but I'm used to working with stupid people on the phone...here's my attempt to 'dumb it down') the stuff the clothes are made of--cotton, taffeta..? DBHE&WIE: Oh! Oh, I don't know...let me transfer you to alterations. Long story short: alterations first language was NOT English. She transferred me back... Hung up--called another location. They're going to call me back tomorrow to let me know. ps Tanlee-you owe me.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale & Dups!

I can't believe it's already here!! THE annual Nordstrom sale!! Christmas in July! 😂 Are you one of the many who get excited for the sale or do you not really care?  I love a good sale, for sure! If there is anything I've had my eye on, I like to make sure I check out the sale to see if it made the cut!  As I type this, I'm off and on Amazon and my Target app because it's Amazon Prime Day! ....ahhh how that commercialism gets me!!😂 It does seem weird to start buying boots, booties, cardigans and jackets in July--especially in Texas!  Buuut I try to keep in mind that if it's something I will need in the winter and it's cheaper to buy it now, it's worth it!! Plus, all the sales in July can help get some gift buying done (super early!!) & then it doesn't hurt so much come November and December, right? #justificationprocess So, for those of you not consuming your days scrolling the sale items and cross referencing them across multiple sites...
