Brent's always prided himself in being spontaneous and reluctant to always have something planned. I, on the other hand, enjoy having a schedule and better yet a LIST of said schedule. I am, however, starting to understand why he is not always in favor of having a plan....
Plan: Take a day trip to Fredericksburg on Friday.
Reality: We went on Saturday.
Plan: Leave by 10am.
Reality: Left about 12pm.
Plan: Brent in shorts/flip flops; Tamara in a summer dress (not really a plan, but it's how we left the house....the first time).
Reality: Both in jeans and closed toed shoes after checking the weather and it was slightly drizzling on our way out.
Plan: Feed Brynlynn upon arrival to Fredericksburg, in the car, to give us apprx 2 (maybe 3) hours of time w/o a crying baby.
Reality: Screaming infant in the first shop we arrive at (apprx 1-1.5 hrs later).
Plan: Change her diaper...problem solved!
Reality: Diaper changed in a dressing room-screaming infant with clean diaper. I'm sweating/melting in the hot, back dressing room and then try to push the stroller through the (judging) people while carrying my screaming (and extremely RED) infant.
Plan: Quickly feed her...skip the nursing and just give her some formula; it's easier.
Reality: Not easier. Brent's carrying the screaming infant...and bouncing...bouncing...in the front area of the same store. I frantically take apart the bottle-with like a million pieces- (already filled with the distilled water) and try to mix in the formula. Upon shaking, formula is going EVERYWHERE! (Sidenote: not through the nipple...we're not that naive.) At this point, I'm just as red as Brynlynn...it was hot, I was embarrassed and moving frantically.
Fortunately, the people of Fredericksburg are nice people. Several came by to comment on how precious she was and the store staff were very helpful despite our little situation......I wonder if they could tell we are new parents??
P.S. Yesterday we went to dinner and she was finally able to ...umm...relieve herself. So she 'sounds the alarm' letting us know it's time for a change. And...we forgot the diaper bag. In the car? Nope, at home. Cut to: Brent rushing out with the screaming infant to get the car. I pick up the check and we have a speedy ride home with a...yep...screaming infant in the back seat. Rookies...

Don't get embarrassed! Just remember that every parent, and I mean every person who has at any time had a child, regardless of how old that child is... Every parent has had days like that. And yes, days is plural. Every parent has been there. You have nothing to be embarrassed about.
Love ya!
